Description

For this:
http://3enjeux.overshoot.tv/billet/42
I'd like to create black/white text with gimp and import the bitmaps into blender and texture them.

What would be the workflow to achieve this?

I now have a problem with overlapping... I posted in the thread above.

One difference is:
Material buttons > links and pipelines > Render pipelines: depress ZTransp.

#5

Also:

* In Materials > Map To > No RGB is depressed in the model .blend but it does not render as expected.

* Materials > Map Input > The model has UV instead of Orco depressed.

* How to see the text in the 3D view? I only see the planes.

I checked : the file provided is a png with white (i.e. not transparent) background.

Create tutorial in wiki.

- Add an image that illustrate what we are after.

consider 3 scenarios, using:
- a black on white image.
- a black image with transparent background.
- a coloured image (like the tree) with a transparent background.

4th to test:
- a coloured image without transparency: test white -> transparency, but in most cases it may not work as well.

#12

- a black on white image.
additional steps:
- view textured mode.
-

differences from reference blend file (blender 2.5/from rawpigeon):
- texture > image sampling > filter = box instead of EWA.
- texture > influence: uncheck color, check alpha = -1. check RGB to intensity. check old Bump Mapping.
- material: check transparency (Z transparency) alpha = 0.
- 3D view window: display = GLSL.

#13

When I've done the basic settings for all 3 (or 4) scenarios, check about shadows cast on other surfaces...

#14

Add another texture image (the texture actually seen).

#15

TODO:
review the exact procedures for all 3 scenarios. Improve the separation to highlight the differences.
Or maybe, put everything together but detail more specifically the steps that differ.
Make a table.

[Edit: DONE]

#16

last thing to do: add some images and maybe some blend files.

All is about done. Some parts could be refined, but it's enough for now.
