Project wiki:Explaining exponential growth
Description

At AHSTY, Dan Chay says: "And almost every politician, economist and business man implicitly extols indiscriminate exponential growth"
i want to make a video clip that will demonstrate it. it will be a collage of mainstream media videos, showing famous news announcers, politicians, economists, business men which extols indiscriminate exponential growth.

for example, go to
http://www.foxnews.com/video/index.html and search videos for 'GDP' or 'economic growth'.

Good idea. This is also something I wanted to do, but it was a low priority for me. Instead, I'll be glad to assist you.

The first thing to do is get the source material (videos) to use in your production.

You mentioned that you use Linux. Which distribution do you use? I use Kubuntu.

To link to a specific video, click the 'share' button in the player, then copy and paste the link to the video, like this:
http://www.foxnews.com/video/index.html?playerId=videolandingpage&streamingFormat=FLASH&referralObject=21512&referralPlaylistId=search|economic%20growth

To download the video, you'll need Firefox 2 with the firebug extension. Once the extension is installed, click the green check (or red cross) at the bottom right of the window. Click on the 'net' tab and find the link to the .flv that is currently playing (at the bottom of the list, usually the largest file).
